
Heading north west from Melbourne, the undulating countryside begins to rise as you approach Mt. Macedon, one of the city's first country summer retreats for the 19th century gentry. Nearby Hanging Rock is a nice spot for a picnic, and was the site of the famous Australian film of the same name. Further afield lie the twin towns of Daylesford and Hepburn Springs. The latter being a popular spa resort since 1870."Take the waters" at the modern, yet traditional bath house or drink your fill and take as much home as you can carry from the numerous springs of the area.
